A Call to Men of Western North Carolina (ACTM-WNC) is a movement of men and boys committed to ending all forms of violence against women.

Based on the highly successful national A Call to Men program, we explore the underlying causes of gender-based violence, such as perceptions of male entitlement and ownership, rigid gender roles, and crippling definitions of manhood that dominate our society.

ACTM-WNC seeks to shift the social norms that define masculinity in our culture.

OBJECTIVES:

• Break out of the man box: Challenge traditional images of manhood that stop us from actively taking a stand to end violence and sexual assault.
• Learn and understand how sexism, male dominance and male privilege lay a foundation for all forms of gender-based violence.
• Better understand how culture impacts our awareness of social norms.
