Sexual Assault Counseling Services

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING

REACH offers confidential counseling for individuals who have experienced sexual assault. Sessions are led by a trained counselor, and are held in a quiet, safe, supportive environment. Therapy sessions can be for one time, or ongoing for a period of weeks.

In addition to individual counseling, support groups for victims of sexual assault/abuse meet at various times as well. These groups usually last for an hour, and are also confidential.

VICTIM ADVOCATE SERVICE

In addition, we offer a Victim Advocate service free of charge to victims and their families as they go through the legal process of obtaining a safe environment for themselves.

This service is does NOT provide legal advice, but instead provides the presence of an individual who acts as support/advocate for the victim as they attend hearings, interface with law enforcement, file legal papers, etc.

Services may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • completion of forms such as Protective Service Orders and Victim Compensation forms
  • networking with law enforcement, Legal Aid, and other agencies to ensure the victim's safety
  • accompanying victims to court as a support presence (this does NOT include giving legal advice; that is the job of your attorney)
  • referral to additional sources of help
