Small reach logoREACH of Jackson County, located in Sylva, NC, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit, dedicated to the eradication of domestic violence and sexual assault. Established in 1978, REACH offers a variety of services to the Western North Carolina community.

Emergency Shelter

REACH can provide emergency shelter for persons in immediate need of a safe, confidential haven.

If you feel your life is in immediate danger,

  • Call 911 for Law Enforcement
  • Call 586-8969 for shelter & legal advocacy
  • Ask to speak with a REACH counselor on the REACH 24-hour emergency hotline.

REACH Village Apartments

REACH Village is the only transitional housing program of its kind west of Asheville. We accept residents from the seven western North Carolina counties.

The Village features
  • 9 new apartments (1,2, or 3 bedrooms)
  • 2-3 year stays for individuals or single parents with children
  • Supportive housing for survivors of prior domestic violence/sexual assault
  • Affordable rental program
  • Comprehensive REACH support services for adult and children residents

KidREACH Children, Youth and Family Services

Our KidREACH Children, Youth Family Services program provides counseling, and parenting support classes for parents, children, and teens affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. All services and programs operate with strict regard to privacy and confidentiality.

Individual therapy, group counseling and support groups are available for

  • school adjustment issues
  • physical/sexual abuse
  • behavior concerns
  • fear & anxiety
  • depression
  • self esteem

Youth At Risk Program provides counseling to youth and their families

Types of "at risk behaviors" may include:

  • acting out
  • defiiant behavior

Community Outreach

In order to provide updated, accessible information to the public, REACH makes presentations to civic groups, agencies, fraternities and sororities, and any other interested groups.

REACH also has printed materials that can be distributed to your group or agency. Contact us at the email or phone below for more information.

  • overview of types of abuse/statistics/sources of help
  • awareness and prevention of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and elder abuse
  • warning signs of these types of violence
